Workshop : Introduction to Flash Photography with Sarah-Jayne Webb

After a very successful first ESPY meeting at Elysium Gallery since pre- pandemic, we are delighted to welcome you to our next meeting, a flash photography workshop, led by photographer Sarah-Jayne Webb.

Sarah-Jayne Webb is a South Wales based artist focusing on Contemporary Narrative photography in a Cinematic style. Conceptually, Webb uses auto- ethnography style research to understand the emotions relating to her mental health which she then aims to convey within her pieces. Suffering from both an anxiety and depression disorder, she finds it difficult to put her emotions into words, photography gives her the opportunity to allow viewers a glimpse into her relationship with the world. Visually, she uses coloured external flashes to create the deep, vibrant style seen cohesively throughout her work.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own cameras and flash guns, but we will have spare flash equipment if you don’t have your own. Friendly chats, technical support, and photography advice will also be available.

There is no need to book, but we will require a £6 entry fee, which includes a free drink from the bar.
